Swedish iron ore exports via Narvik are used by various industries around the world. The ore is mined in Kiruna, in the world's largest iron ore mine. The exports are so extensive that they were also in the interests of Nazi Germany's war machine, and ultimately resulted in Battle of Narvik in 1940.
